Kids Get Cancer Too

Mia Represents Whitchurch High School at ‘Kids Get Cancer Too’ Event

On Tuesday 7th October, one of our students, Mia attended the ‘Kids Get Cancer Too’ event at the Senedd, hosted by cancer charity Joseph Smiles. Mia was invited to give a moving and inspirational speech about her personal journey fighting leukaemia and her continued commitment to improving support for young people living with cancer in Wales.

The event brought together childhood cancer charities from across the country to raise awareness and celebrate the incredible work being done to support young people and their families affected by cancer. It was a powerful and meaningful show of solidarity, bringing voices together from all walks of life to highlight both the challenges and the hope shared by those impacted by this devastating disease.

Mia was accompanied to the event by her Progress Leader, Mrs Johnson, and her dedicated school support assistant, Mr Maton, who were both incredibly proud to see her represent Whitchurch High School with such confidence and passion.

Mrs Johnson said: “We were so proud to see Mia stand up in front of so many people and speak so honestly and courageously about her journey. She is an inspiration to us all, and it was truly moving to see the strength, positivity, and empathy she continues to show every day.”

Everyone at Whitchurch High School is immensely proud of Mia for her bravery, advocacy, and determination to make a difference.
