Year 13 Media Students Explore Behind the Scenes at Cymru Broadcast Centre

Our Year 13 A Level Media students enjoyed a valuable trip to the Cymru Broadcast Centre in Cardiff. The visit included an exclusive guided tour and hands on workshop focused on post production roles in modern broadcasting.

During the visit, students:

  • Explored production control rooms, sound control rooms, edit suites, and more, equipment that supports major live broadcasts.
  • Engaged directly with industry professionals, learning about roles in video and audio editing, vision mixing, and remote production workflows.
  • Even received an exciting preview of how the Dubai Grand Prix is filmed remotely gaining insight into the global reach and technical complexity of such high-profile events.

Miss McGuiness, ALevel Media teacher, commented:  “It was inspiring to see our students so engaged with the real-world applications of media production. They’ve gained a much deeper appreciation for the technical expertise and teamwork required behind the scenes, especially when it comes to broadcasting major international events like the Dubai Grand Prix.”

This visit offered a dynamic glimpse into the fast-paced world of broadcast media, reinforcing the skills our students develop in the classroom.
