Whitchurch High School Student Wins Prestigious Poster Competition Promoting Anti-Racism
We are incredibly proud to share that Year 8 Art students from Whitchurch High School once again took part in the annual Schools Against Racism poster competition, organised by Race Equality First. This inspiring event encourages students across Wales to creatively express messages of equality, unity, and anti-racism through art.
Out of more than 2,700 entries submitted by schools across the country, we were thrilled to learn that Year 8 student Sampadha Duggirala was selected as one of the winning entrants for her powerful and imaginative poster design. Her work stood out for its bold message, artistic skill, and commitment to promoting positive change.
The awards ceremony was made extra special this year with the presence of broadcaster Jason Mohammad, who presented the prizes to the winners. His support for the initiative helped shine a national spotlight on the importance of young voices in promoting equality.
Miss Howe, Art teacher at Whitchurch High School, praised her students’ efforts and Sampadha’s achievement: “I’m incredibly proud of all our students who took part in this important competition. They approached the theme of anti-racism with real maturity and creativity. Sampadha’s poster was a truly moving and thoughtful response to the brief, and her win is so well-deserved.”
We are proud of our students’ continued commitment to using art as a powerful tool for change and conversation, and we celebrate Sampadha’s fantastic success in this year’s competition.
